Here you can download an Excel spreadsheet [Weight & Balance] that has clever features like an active graph of the load limits with an instant plot point of the calculated load, a conditional format of the gross weight cell so that the value turns red if the max gross is exceeded. Very cool!
 
Cessna 172 G-BSEP Weight and Balance Calculator
This page, by D. Williams of the UK, is similar to what we're doing here, but his scheme of using CSS to make an active plot of the calculated load on the limits graph is elegant! We grabbed some of his CSS code and experimented with it.
