Jason
| I was born in Richmond, Indiana, on the anniversary of
George Washington's birthday in 1976. My first home was in
Connersville, Indiana, which is about 35 miles from where an obscure
fellow by the name of Charles M.
Fairchild was born. My dad worked for Ford Motor Company and,
subsequently, my folks and I moved around a fair bit while I was growing
up. I summarize the places where I have lived as "Indiana #1",
"Michigan #1", "Indiana #2", "Michigan #2", "Texas", "Brazil", and
finally "Michigan #3" before going off to college in New York.
My interest in history, particularly maritime history, lead me to pursue a degree in naval architecture. I have always had a passion for antiques and, after finishing school, I was hoping to buy an old house with lots of Victorian charm. I found such a house in Marinette, Wisconsin, and I have been living here since June of '99. I work as a Naval Architect at Marinette Marine Corporation and, for a little while now, I have acted as the head of the naval architecture department. Outside of work I am an active member of the Marinette Lions Club. My grandfather, William K. Flatt, was a member of the Carrollton Lions Club of Carrollton, Illinois, for a number of years. I am also a board member of the Marinette County Historical Society. I volunteer my Sunday afternoons at the museum on Stephenson Island which is just across the river here in front of the house. Of course, the museum is closed on Sundays this year on account of the widespread road construction in downtown Marinette. My other interests include restoration work on my home, Victorian architecture, clocks, antique furniture, learning to play the banjo, Studebakers, and genealogy. In June of 2005 I married the Goode Doctor Jennifer M. Stolpa. With her help, I plan to add more to these web pages as time goes by. |
