
The 2008 national convention was held in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Ten of
twelve participants from Green Bay are pictured above. Visits were made to
Allen County Extension Display Gardens, Johnny Appleseed Gravesite,
Foellinger-Freimann Botanical Conservatory, Chief Little Turtle Memorial,
Lakeside Rose Garden, Merry Lea Environmental Center, Solomon Farm, and
private residential gardens. Seminars were presented on prairies,
perennials, butterflies, bats, art in the garden, pest control, container
gardening, annual flower gardens, judges' clinics, and photography.

Judy Nighorn and Shirley Winnes received framed photos of their 2008
photographs which were chosen for the 2009 TGOA/MGCA Calendar.
Four Green Bay club members entered photographs in the competition this
year. Here are their results:
Paul Hartman
entered 20 slides, receiving 11 first-place awards and 9 second-place
awards; 4 received Best of Class designations; 11 were selected for the
PowerPoint program.
Bob Mongin
entered 10 slides, receiving 8 first-place awards and 2 second-place
awards; a sunset over Green Bay slide received a Best of Class
designation; 6 were selected for the PowerPoint program.
Dave Parsons
entered photos for the first time, 20 in all, receiving 7 first-place
awards and 13 second-place awards; 10 were selected for the PowerPoint
program.
Shirley Winnes
entered 20 digital photos, receiving 18 first-place awards and 2
second-place awards; 7 received Best of Class designations; 13 were
selected for the PowerPoint program.
