This newsletter article was created to provide all directors with a resource of quality jazz ensemble literature. Regardless of how many years of experience a director has, we all run into those times when we need just one more chart to finish off a concert or festival program. I am not making any claims that I've cornered the market on good charts; I've been "stuck" several times myself. I have had the help of a few directors and would like to thank those that have made contributions to the listings: Dave Kiepert, Harvey Halpaus, Kurt Dietrich, Ron Keezer, and Steve Sveum.
I would like to continue adding to the listings and compiling more for future articles. If you have some titles of good teaching literature to share, please send information to me. I've included a sample "form" at the end of this hand-out. The information I need for each chart is:
