If you came here wondering what the heck Linux is, you have come to the right place! Linux is a copylefted (freely distributable with source code) Unix clone operating system that was originally created by Linus Torvalds. It is also my OS of choice. Linus originally created Linux as an alternative to Minix. Linux has been ported to several different platforms including Intel, Sparc, DEC Alpha, and Macintosh. Due to the amount of effort that has been put into the creation of the OS and its applications by the worldwide Linux community it is very robust. Linux is also becoming more user friendly through the use of X-Windows and package managers which help ease the transistion from a Windoze based world.
