Sentence Diagramming Guide: Section 8 - Indirect Object

1. Start by drawing your core structure, and draw the line for the direct object. In order to have an indirect object, there must be a direct object.
2. Under the verb, draw a diagonal line like the line used for an adverb. A little ways up the line from the bottom, draw a line that is attached to the slanted line but is parallel to the core sentence line.
3. Write your indirect object (I.O.) on the line that is parallel to the core line.
