Sentence Diagramming Guide: Section 10 - Compound Subject

1. Rather than starting out with the core structure, you need to draw two horizontal lines that are parallel to each other and are equal in length.
2. Draw a small line from the right end of each line so they meet at a point. It should look like a rocket. From now on, this will be referred to as the "rocket ship."
3. From the original right end of your top line to the original end of the bottom line, draw a dotted line. Your conjunction (conj.) will go on this.
4. Write your two subjects (subject) on the horizontal lines.
5. Draw a vertical line that is split in half by the tip of your "rocket ship." This is the line that separates the subject from the verb.
6. From the tip of your "rocket ship," draw a horizontal line extending to the right. Write your verb (verb) on this line.
